FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION (FAQ)

We only repair pieces bought at Melanie Van Dooren.

You have 3 different logistic options: 

  • Send your jewel by post (secured and at your own risk) to Osselveldstraat 4, 1785 Ossel 
  • Book a fast-lane appointment to bring in your jewel
  • Drop your jewel in our parcel mailbox without making an appointment – please notify us when you’ve dropped the package.
 

Repairs within the warranty period of 2 years are free of costs, except when the jewel was clearly misused.

Size adjustments within 6 months after delivery are free of costs.

For repairs or size adjustments that are not under warranty anymore, please send an e-mail to  olivia@melanievandooren.com if you would like to have a price estimation for your repair up front.

On average, it takes 1 to 2 weeks to repair.

We offer one free size adaptation. 

In case you don’t know the correct ring size, we advise a size adaptation afterwards. Be aware of the possible size adjustment range, though!

In case you have an existing ring available (that fits the correct finger!), we can measure the size at THE ATELIER  or you can try the tools below

Download the free Ring Sizing App (APP Store/ GOOGLE PLAY). Open it up and place the ring (of the finger you wish to measure) onto the screen of your device to determine your ring size.

If you would like to have a cleaning and/or check-up, you have 3 different logistic options:

Costs associated to cleaning your jewel (check-up is free of costs):

  • Polishing and ultrasonic cleaning for silver, yellow and rose gold: as from 17 euros VAT included / piece
  • Polishing, ultrasonic cleaning and rhodium plating for white gold: as from 35 euros VAT included / piece
 

Prices may vary depending on the size of your jewel and intensity of cleaning.

On average, it takes one week to clean your jewel.

We have evolved from a tailor-made service to a gallery concept: we now offer prêt-à-porter jewelry, off-line (at the atelier) as well as online (webshop). When an item is sold, it will not necessarily be made again. It will be a surprising experience every time you pass by as little treasures will come and go.

We still offer a tailor-made service for pieces starting at 5.000 euros VAT included. Please send an e-mail to hi@melanievandooren.com for more info.

We don’t reuse materials that belong to the customer (gold, stones etc).

We provide an add-on service for customers who have previously bought a jewel at Melanie Van Dooren.

If you would like to add an element to your existing jewel, please book an add-on appointment on the booking page.

Specifically in case of adding a name to your Maurice Necklace, please book a fast-lane appointment on the booking page.

1. In case you chose shipping:

Pieces bought on the webshop will be shipped within 3 working days if no adjustments are needed, except for items from the tailor-made collection which require 6 to 8 production weeks.  You will receive a track and trace code to follow your parcel. We always advise to choose pick-up over shipping.

In case an adjustment had to be made to your ordered jewel, we will ship your parcel within 14 workdays.

2. In case you chose pick-up:

In case you chose pick-up for an item that doesn’t need an adjustment, you will be referred to the booking page to make your fast-lane appointment. In case an adjustment was required, we will notify you so you can plan you pick-up.

All items on the webshop can be viewed and fitted at the atelier. Please choose the appropriate appointment on the booking page. The webshop is a conclusive overview of all the pieces we have to offer at the atelier.

The webshop as well as the atelier are closed during holiday periods.

  • Purchased items cannot be interchanged or returned afterwards.
